Mobile app for dance teams
Fun fact, I’m part of a dance team! We use GroupMe and a Facebook group for most of our communications. It would be nice to have one central app where you could do things like share choreography videos, chat with each other, share playlists of songs we’re dancing to, etc. You could modify this idea to focus on sports teams or really any sort of large team.
Here are a few quick mockups of some functionality the app could have.
Chat Section
This is a simple chat section where the entire team can send messages to each other. This is modeled after GroupMe’s chat interface. You could have more actions when you click a message or click a person’s avatar.
Video Section: Team
This would be a section where you can share dance videos with the team. These can be uploaded form your phone which would allow you to easily share videos of the choreography a teammate made.
You could also be able to upload videos from YouTube that you just think are really cool. (Like this, or this ☺)
Video Section: Global
Notice the “Global” and “Team” toggles on the top? The global part would allow you to see popular videos that everyone using the app is sharing. The YouTube icon on the sides would take you to the video if it’s on YouTube.
It might be nice to be able to send a video you shared with your team to the global feed.
Music Section
This last major section would be a place to share playlists with the team. It would be nice to have one place to find all the songs for a certain performance. You could add the full mix to a playlist too and a little music icon would appear next to it.
There might be a way to integrate this part with Spotify. That could be a cool use of their API.
And that’s the quick tour of this idea!
