Once upon a time, when days were COVID-19 free!

Intro 00

Another successful DevCJeddah event owned the night, new connections had been built, and the designer’s side of each and everyone was fantastically unleashed regardless of their academic backgrounds! The community was diverse & enthusiastic as always; there were undergrads, fresh grads, high school students, developers, designers, and even school teachers.

What‘s on the table?

A light chatting took place before the workshop and we happened to hear a common misconception which is the User Interface (UI) is the same as the User Experience (UX). Is this a valid statement? The essence chemistry of the formula for the UX will be revealed at the end of this article. And there came the hero of the night, Sadiq Hussain. He welcomed and showed us the tiny bits and bytes of the design world. Moreover, he showed us how design not only exists in visual representations but also in every corner of the universe. One vital principle that was addressed was the Atomic Design Principle where the components of a page are further dissected into a template, organisms, molecules, to end up with the basic building blocks known as the atoms!

The winner of The Smashing Book

It was the turn of the on-hands workshop where our community members sketched their solutions for the applications’ designs on papers; yeah, we followed the footsteps of our ancestors who had started designing the history using only pencil and paper :) Afterward, some of the new designers proudly pitched what their varied solutions to the different proposed problems were, after that, the audience voted for a winner of the trophy. The prize was super duper awesome: The Smashing Book!!

That’s A Wrap!

All in all, our community delightfully shared the positive learning spirit and discovered their inner designer! We learned that the main chemical components that make up the UX are namely the look aka UI, the feel, and how usable the design is.

Until next time folks! Happy learning, coding, and of course designing! 👩🏼‍💻🎨👨🏼‍💻

Peace out ✌🏼
