How senior engineers review code

When it comes time to review a pull request, I’ve seen beautiful code that completes the requirements and is immediately approved.

I’ve also seen long rounds of back and forth, asking for changes. Code that’s confusing or trying too hard.

Here’s what I look for in code review as a senior engineer and tech lead. I also try to hold my own code to these standards.
