Tech Talk is a non-conference organized by the Developer Student Club of The South Mediterranean University that showcases how ‘Tech Kisses Business’, or in fancier words how to harness the power of technology in entrepreneurship

Tech Talk #1 — DSC SMU (from right to left: Amine Ouni, Mohamed Bouali, Amir Cherni, Firas Rhaim)

Our goal through Tech Talk is mainly to help students (especially undergraduates from business and engineering) to hear success stories, failures, and experiences from different backgrounds.

Tech Talk #2 — DSC SMU (From right to left: Bahia Nar, Zohra Slima)

“It’s true that organizing an event is not a big issue for many, but for me, it was a hell of an incredible experience. It was challenging since I never organized an event in my life and it’s my first time being a leader of a team. To be clear, it’s not only about organizing the event but more about the impact that such an event can make.”

Syrine Mahmoud, DSC SMU Board Member & 1st edition Tech Talk Event Lead

After the success of the first edition where we invited Firas Rhaim (CEO Epilert), Amine Ouni (CEO TrustIt), Amir Cherni (CEO Cube+ International), and Mohamed Bouali (CEO Trust Services), we organized our 2nd edition with a new theme: “Tunisian Women in Tech”, and of course with 4 incredible speakers and panelists: ·

· Zohra Slim, The CD&VO & the co-founder and the CTO of InstaDeep. She is also the co-lead of GDG Carthage.

· Noha Jaafar, The CEO of Lollipop, the Lead of GDG Carthage and UX design instructor. She is also a Women Techmakers program ambassador.

· Bahia Nar, The CEO of Fireworks consultancy. She is a communication & social media expert and trainer. Bahia has been also the producer and animator of DigiCom, the 1st Tunisian podcast that focuses on communication, digital marketing, and social media.

· Chema Gargouri, the Founder and the president of TAMSS (Tunisian Association of Management and Social Stability), country director of the institute of international education and WES (Women Enterprise for Sustainability). She is also a consultant at Deloitte- TADAEEM Program / USAID and the Arab American Institute Foundation.

Tech Talk #1 — DSC SMU (Tech Boxing session)

After hearing all the speeches, a session of ‘Tech Boxing’ has been held. This session is one of the main components of any Tech Talk we organize. Through Tech Boxing, participants can ask any question to any (or all the speakers) and speakers can interact with each other (sometimes speakers don’t have the same point of view, and this is from where comes the why it’s called Tech Boxing). For this edition, the Tech Boxing session had focused on how women can start their entrepreneurial journeys despite all the socio-cultural barriers.

Tech Talk #1 — DSC SMU

“Being the leader of the Tech Talk: Tunisian Women in Tech was my first challenge as a tech student and one of the DSC SMU board members. It was very inspiring for me and for all the participants of the event. I can never deny the fact that apart from organizing the event, listening to the speakers made me prouder as a Tunisian Women.”

Rawand Skouri, DSC SMU Board Member & 2nd edition Tech Talk Event Lead

“I know this seems funny to you but thanks to the Tech Talk, I guaranteed my capstone project in Epilert, one of the startups that were present in the event. In addition to the success stories that you can hear, Tech Talk gives you the opportunity to network effectively.”

Wajdi Ben Slema, DSC SMU Board Member
