Kohknowco VR is bringing the Kohknowco Framework to remote schools
Who is Kohknowco VR?
Ocean Jones, Ashlin Inwood and Jesper Moritzen. We are students from Kohknowco Lab at Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery School. Ocean (17) is the artist and concept designer; Ashlin (16) is the coder/environment builder; Jesper (13) is the graphic designer.
Where are you based?
Christchurch, New Zealand.
What are you working on?
We are designing and building a prototype of a Kohknowco VR World. Kohknowco is an Innovation Framework co-created by our class and industry professionals. It has a creative forest theme. The purpose of Kohknowco is to give students the opportunity to follow their passions, collaborate, connect with the wider world, and maybe build their own startups if they want to.
What motivated you to create this product?
We heard that kids in more isolated areas might benefit from the Kohknowco experience so we decided to create a VR World. The Grandfather of Virtual Reality, Professor Tom Furness, creator of the HITLab and RATLab, came to visit us and we got talking. Our framework is very complementary to some of the VR research Tom has been doing with his students in Washington so we thought it was a great opportunity to play, create, and collaborate! Apart from that, as individuals, we love working on interesting projects where we can apply our skills and create cool stuff.
How can Developster be of service to you?
It’s always beneficial to find mentors, not just for the technical stuff, but also for the business side of things. We’re interested in exploring ways that we can develop this idea. We’ll also be looking for testers once we have a working prototype, so the Developster network can help to hook us into our target market. When Developster launches, we’re looking forward to posting about our journey.
