Get Connected with Tech Community of Pakistan
It’s been a while since we wrote about devncode so let me share our journey so far and our planning for the future. Before getting started I would like to introduce myself, I am Vice President of devncode and by profession, I am a freelancer offering Web and Cross-Platform Mobile Application development services using React, React Native, Nodejs, MongoDB, MySql, and Firebase technologies.
We started a year ago, back in August 2017, since then we did five meetups, introducing 15+ new technical speakers to the community, we have 20+ partners including local communities, software houses, and organizations from all over Pakistan. Our community is now expanded to 2000+ members.
Our vision is to build a strong culture of tech communities in Pakistan which helps to connect people around the country. Being connected help people around the country to share their experiences and learning that can benefit others. New collaborations helped to fill the gap between the academia and industry. Open source contributions helped Pakistan to get attraction from around the globe, as a result, new international collaboration emerged that helped people to learn from them also.
When we started, the trend for Call for presentation is very rare. Organizers usually look for the speakers in their circle which result not a lot of people get a chance of speaking in community events. Now communities are more engaged and generating value, people are more interested to join even the paid events and workshops as they know the value of communities are generating.
Our biggest challenge is to get sponsorship as all of our community work is for giving back to the community and doing that there were expenses which some time fulfill from our pocket. In this regard, we need your help to come forward and help us build strong and valuable communities.
We believe there is a gap in information sharing between people, communities, and organizations. People are not aware of the events happening around them or there is an opportunity for volunteer work or there is a job open or some awesome course is coming up.
So we are taking another initiative to serve our community that is we are starting a newsletter which contains all the information about upcoming tech events from all over Pakistan, the upcoming technical course is starting, articles from local developers, open source project opportunities, upcoming volunteer work opportunity, and job openings.
