How developing soft-skills improved my technical career

4.5 years into my professional I.T. career I changed roles and moved into the world of I.T. consulting. It was one of the greatest jobs I’ve ever held. I mean seriously what is better than getting paid to see the world? Over the next 2.5 years, I would travel to nearly every major city in the United States. In addition to exploring the US, I had opportunities to work in Canada, Australia, and Great Britain.

While I developed many new technical skills and learned a lot about enterprise security, it was the soft-skills I matured during this time that have propelled success in my career.

Some of which are:

  • Public Speaking
  • Building relationships
  • How to interact with I.T. executives
  • The art of marketing
