He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. — Psalms 40:2

God can do great and marvelous things in our lives today. We should not believe that we can experience eternal life only when we get to heaven. To deny the power of God in our lives on this earth is to deny that he has no power at all. He has the power to remove us from the horrible pit. No matter our circumstances or trial, God can do great things for us. He promises us that he will never leave, nor forsake us. As we go about our daily tasks, let us keep our eyes on Christ. He will show us a way of every temptation, and trial.

We are not to entertain the idea that this life will be all bliss. Some preach a perverted Gospel and falsely assume that the Christian will not have any trial in this life. This is false. The word of God reminds us that in this world we shall have tribulation. While others are complaining about why bad things happen to good people, let us continue praising God for each new day. In our pilgrimage here, we can face sickness, loss, trials, and even death. Yet, this does not take away from the goodness of God. Christian can have cancer. They can lose someone precious. They may even have to endure defamation and false accusation because we are living in a sinful world.

There is a Gospel that preaches only prosperity, but it is not the Gospel of Christ. There is a gospel that teaches sowing and reaping. It is a scam. As Christian, let us not shrink from responsibility. God has given us the promise that he will take care of us. Whether we are rich or destitute, praise on. The Gospel of prosperity is fake. And it excludes those who find themselves in horrible situations. Our miry clay is not because God has turned away from us. Let us refrain from believing that we are a curse from generation to generation. This earthly life has downturns. And we may find ourselves in a dark place.

God can bring us out. He can make a way out of the horrible pit. He can deliver us from the miry clay. And he has the power to heal us completely. This is our assurance. Our God is in control. We can come to him no matter our situation, and he will hear us. He will establish our goings. We may face difficulties in this life, yet we shall find reasons to rejoice always in the Lord. Our portion in this world may include terrible trials, yet God gives us the guarantee that we shall never walk alone. Instead of despair, we shall praise God for his faithful watch over us.

Did you know that God can get you out of your situation?

The Prayer — Heavenly Father, Set our feet on solid ground In Jesus’s name. Amen!
