And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. — Psalms 39:7

Now

In this song, David is employing the power of God. Now he says. Not in a minute, not yesterday, and not tomorrow, the moment is now. Maybe in the past, David relied on his strength. but now he wants to rely completely and solely on God.

David makes it clear that he cannot wait for the help that he needs. Jesus needs to come through for him now. He does not have any other upon which he can rely. And if David has to wait. He is waiting on the Lord.

Where else can David place his hope? Through experience, David has learned to trust in the Lord. Some may trust in chariots, some may trust on human strength, but David cannot do so. Life has taught him about the unreliability of these sources.

Lord

David recognizes his helper as the Lord. He places his trust in one who can help in the time of trouble. The Lord is mighty to save.

Since David called the Lord his helper, David is willing to place his life under his guidance. As David looks for help, he also looks for direction and guidance. David prays that the Lord will become is compass and comfort.

What do I wait for?

What do I wait for? This was The plea of David. He could not find help and solace in any other but Christ. This can also be our cry. What are we waiting for? Maybe our life has been disquieted. We may desire a mighty deliver. The Lord can help.

My Hope is in you

Dear reader, where is your hope today? Do you hope and your strength? Do you hope in the things of this world? Do you place your hope in your possessions? Where is your hope? Do you hope in the Lord?

Those who wait on the Lord shall never be ashamed. All those that put their trust in him will shine forth. When we are speechless, we can still wait on the Lord. When all seems blurry, we can still wait on the Lord. When we do not know what step to take, we can still wait and hope in the Lord.

As we wait, God will renew our strength. He will guide us. He will show us what steps to take. We have nothing to fear when we wait on the Lord.
