Meet our President and Business Development Lead
Mario Aquino — President
A visionary tech venture builder who has spent over 20 years as an advisor, entrepreneur, executive and investor. Currently, he is the Managing Partner of FutureLabs Ventures, a distinctive venture capital firm set up in alliance with former fellow McKinsey Partners. From 2013 to 2017 he was Founding Partner of McKinsey Solutions and Partner of McKinsey New Ventures in APAC where he has built and led 40+ startups to emerge as global innovators in their fields. In just over 5 years, he scaled the New Ventures team to over 500 professionals imbued with the same grit and passion to bring innovation from a mere idea to tech behemoths.
Prior to the McKinsey saga, Mario was Managing Director and Board member of Moody’s Analytics in EMEA, a risk analytics company that he helped build and scale into a $1 billion revenue business. During his tenure at Moody’s, he was instrumental in making a number of transformative acquisitions and internal investments in financial technology and advanced analytics.
Prior to Moody’s, Mario was a financial analyst at Lehman Brothers in London focusing on high-tech, high-growth sectors and held a number of consulting positions at McKinsey in the US, where he advised tech startups (including establishing and launching Virgin Mobile in the US) and PE firms.
Mario obtained a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy) and later earned an MBA degree (Dean’s Honor List) from the University of Chicago-Booth School of Business in Finance.
How will the protocol benefit from his contribution?
Mario is an execution-oriented visionary who perfectly understands how to ready a motivated team into developing an actionable strategy. His wisdom in scaling companies across different industries under uncertain circumstances can ferry the project in navigating the highly competitive startup market. It is a huge confidence vote to the project that Mario was convinced by our ongoing project and has decided to join us as President late last year.
Federico Cristina, CFA — Business Development Lead
An accomplished investment fund manager with over 10 years of experience in securities trading, portfolio management and asset management. Federico has successfully launched and developed several investment funds which have been sold to private and institutional investors. Federico is a CFA® charter holder. Prior to joining DEXTF team on a full-time basis, he was the Head of the Investment team (2013–2019) at Mindful Wealth (although he still retains the position of Head of Investment Products), a boutique fund management firm based in Singapore and regulated by the MAS. Mindful Wealth is the principal sponsor of DEXTF and it is slated to become our committed client once the platform is readily available.
Federico started off his career at Ersel, a leading and historical Italian asset management company specialized in wealth management and advisory since 1936. His insights and deep knowledge of clients’ needs and extreme dedication to deliver strong results has enabled him to move to BSI (Banca Svizzera Italiana) as a Private Banker in Singapore before its full integration into EFG Bank which took place in 2017.
As asset management became less trading and more structuring, in 2013 he took the opportunity to help launching several structured products, in particular CLO funds which he currently still manages. [Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs) are structured vehicles which invest in senior secured loans, which are less risky than bonds because the loans are supported by assets pledged by the companies such as shares of operating companies and hard assets like machineries, plants, licenses and cash flows.]
Federico obtained a degree in Financial Markets and Intermediaries from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy).

Federico is a tactful fund manager with insightful experience in how to decisively help to revolutionize the traditional asset management. A team aggregator internally and a successful relationship builder externally, Federico has managed to bring together important asset managers who are interested in building on our platform, and VC funds who would like to take their business around a more suitable environment.
