dfdao is back with our most high-stakes, competitive, and FUN release yet: Dark Forest Grand Prix: Season 1.
Grand Prix Season 1 is a player-run competition based on the Dark Forest speed-run game mode we introduced in June.
Players compete to get the fastest time in a new race every week for six weeks. The highest scorer at the end of the season will earn a Valhalla Planet NFT trophy valued at ~1200USD.
If you win a round this season, you will receive a Wallbreaker NFT and gain special privileges 👀.
Week 1 starts Saturday, September 10th at 0:00 UTC at arena.dfdao.xyz!

ENTER. - Import a wallet, or create a new one by pressing
(n) - Follow the instructions and enter the universe.

Dark Forest Grand Prix
Dark Forest Arena is our short, action-packed version of Dark Forest, a video game that is built entirely using a blockchain.
In Grand Prix, you are a solo player racing from your 🍼 spawn planet to capture the 🎯 target planet across the map. You get as many tries as you like to set the best possible time.
Season 1
In Grand Prix Season 1, we have expanded the competition to encompass multiple Grand Prix rounds. The player with the highest cumulative score over those rounds will win the game.
Season 1 consists of six one-week rounds and you can improve your time by replaying old rounds. However, you are only eligible for the Wallbreaker NFT if you get the top during during the week the current round is active.
Prizes
The player who achieves first place in Season 1 of Grand Prix will receive a Steady Mint Dog, Level 2 Dark Forest Valhalla planet, valued at .75ETH.
Everyone else who finishes a race will receive a POAP for participating. We may give out additional awards as the season plays out.
Badges
Throughout the season, if you achieve specific objectives, you can earn special badges. Badges can be earned once for each Grand Prix round and boost your season score.
Here are the badges up for grabs in Season 1:
- 🚀 Start Your Engine: 100 points for finishing a Grand Prix.
- 🌳 Tree: 42 points for finishing a Grand Prix in exactly 420 moves.
- 🤕 Ouch : 24 points for finishing a Grand Prix in over 24 hours.
- 👊 Wallbreaker: NFT and special access to Discord.

Decentralizing Grand Prix
In previous Grand Prix rounds, the core team chose the canonical map each week and distributed prizes. We unilaterally shaped player experiences. To realize our dream of decentralizing Dark Forest, we needed a way for players to legitimize maps and distribute prizes.
In Dark Forest by Cixin Liu, Wallbreakers are evil humans enacting an alien invasion. To do so, they try to outsmart the Wallfacers, Earth’s defense squad. The dfdao core team is known as the the Wallfacers, and if you win a round, you will join the Wallbreakers.
Wallbreakers propose and select maps for future Grand Prix rounds. If nobody submits a map for a given week, administrators Velorum and ClassicJ will be responsible for creating that week’s map.
Grand Prix can now continue without any direct involvement from the core team. We hope this will prove the power of player-owned gaming experiences. To join the Wallbreakers, you must place first on a Grand Prix in the first week that the race is active. If you do, you get a Wallbreaker badge, a gold star on the leaderboard, and a special NFT that grants access to the #wallbreaker channel in the dfdao Discord.
Note: To honor the winners of our initial Grand Prix experiments, Ner0nzz, Velorum, ClassicJ, and Yuri will be grandfathered in as initial members of the Wallbreakers.
