Storage Crypto Market

How is DFILE different from another decentralized storage provider on crypto market?

To begin with, it is worth recalling that DFILE is based on DeNet.Storage technology — a proprietary development of DeNet since 2017.

There are no minimum hardware requirements, which means that a mining node can be assembled from a raspberry pi, by your own PC assembly.

DFILE currently has two clients:

webdav server — simulates a webdav server, where the client connects “to itself”

Features of the WebDav version:

  • Read
  • Write
  • Delete
  • mkdir

On Linux / Mac — full functionality of working with FS (work with files as in a regular folder)

web client — web version, full analogue of dropbox, icloud, google drive.

Features of the web version:

  • Read
  • Write
  • make dir
  • Delete (Trashbox until the end of the block storage period)
  • File commenting
  • File history
  • Sharing
  • Node management (blacklist, whitelist)
  • Digital Signatures for any data
  • zkSync integration (coming soon)
  • App Market (coming soon)
  • Lightning Payments (coming soon)

Plan management:

  • Price per 1 GB / Month
  • Price to download
  • Price to upload
  • Redundancy management
  • Change token to pay (coming soon)
  • Network change (coming soon)

And if from the point of view of the user side it is already clear that the application will be in demand, then the question remains with the miners and the network.

There are not many competitors on the market now, but there are differences between all, for comparison, consider FileCoin, Storj, SIa, IPFS and our DFILE (DeNet.Storage)

Storj — is not a decentralized service and does not guarantee that no one will get access to your files.

Sia — the oldest in the storage market of all the ones presented, the only drawbacks are the lack of direct work with payment gateways and the tie on its own blockchain, the lack of a built-in algorithm for working with sharing and a strong dependence on updates from the developers of the Sia team.

IPFS — it is a protocol for transferring and storing data in a decentralized environment, it can be used well for almost any product, however, this is also its disadvantage — this is not a complete product for both miners and users, to use it requires the next layer that will close the issues of monetization, attraction users, sharing, etc.

FileCoin — the next layer that runs over IPFS protocol has its drawbacks — both for miners (quite demanding) and for users. Introduced in 2017, raised $ 257M. Now we know that the conditions for working as a node in FileCoin are quite demanding, to work you need at least 128 GB of RAM, 8 Cpu Cores and preferably a GPU. It is worth noting that information on how users and developers of third-party applications will work with this is still unknown. As well as the economic feasibility of such a network, however, we will not rush to conclusions, since the platform has just launched.

DFILE (DeNet.Storage) — in contrast to the above competitors, it has a number of advantages, namely:

  • Work with any ERC20 token (this means that miners can receive payment in any token, just like users)
  • Works on a decentralized network
  • The minimum number of calls to the blockchain
  • Support for zkSync, the use of L2 (less commissions when working within the Ethereum network and for both miners and users, it is not necessary to open a payment gateway with each other, one participant is enough, and after zkSync has developed contracts, it is possible to nullify the high cost of commission and get the most profitable economy)
  • No minimum system and hardware requirements
  • The revolutionary ProofOfStorage algorithm, in DeNet, miners encrypt the stored data with their public key and send proofs to the network based on the latest blocks of the Ethereum or zkSync network, which completely closes the problem that one node can be represented by several nodes and store only one file part.
  • WebDav support — the ability to integrate into any OS and any applications that support WebDav
  • Work within Ethereum network

Below is a table by which you can familiarize yourself with the advantages of DFILE (DeNet.Storage) over other services for mining using file storage
