Today we are excited to announce the launch of the long-awaited Dfinance incentivized testnet, which will allow participants to run Dfinance nodes, stake, delegate, participate in competitions and earn real Dfinance coins in return. The date for the planned launch is the 15th of October.
This is the main event many have been waiting for, not only because it marks one of the final milestones before the release of our first mainnet version, but also because you will finally be able to use real XFI on our platform and not just test ones. The Dfinance incentivized testnet will not only give rewards in real XFI, but also require real XFI to run validators, stake, or provide liquidity (more on this below). A full changelog for the testnest update will be published separately.
With the release of the incentivized testnet, users will finally be able to stake their XFI and earn real rewards. Those who do not have enough coins to run their own validators or simply lack the technical expertise can delegate their coins to a trusted node of their choice.
The new testnet will also introduce LP staking. This will allow liquidity providers to stake their liquidity provider (LP) tokens which can be obtained by providing liquidity to the Dfinance XFI/ETH pair on Uniswap. The pair will be announced several days after the launch of the incentivized testnet. This will also allow interested newcomers to acquire XFI and actively participate in the incentivized testnet.
To stake your XFI or Dfinance Uniswap LP tokens on the incentivized testnet, you will need to transfer them through a staking gateway. We will release instructions on how to do this prior to the release of the new testnet version.
We do want to emphasize that, when transferring, all XFI tokens and LP tokens will remain safe since they actually remain on the Ethereum side of the staking gateway, so it is impossible to lose them (with the exception of losing access to your own wallet).
With that said, it is important to understand that this is still only a testnet. Even though the rewards users receive are real XFI, there is always the danger that something could go wrong, the network could be rolled back or fixes could be implemented which may have a negative impact on the reward balances. The incentivized testnet may be reverted, there may be unpredictable network behaviors, errors, and other things we cannot completely rule out. By staking on the incentivized testnet, you recognize and accept these risks.
Before the migration from incentivized testnet to mainnet, the withdrawal of XFI tokens will be frozen. LP tokens will remain withdrawable during this period.
