Internet Computer Dashboard: Making ICP Data More Accessible
We’re excited to share the latest updates to the Internet Computer Dashboard — a portal designed to help developers, users, and ecosystem explorers better understand the network through clean, accessible data.
Originally built as a powerful utility for real-time metrics, the dashboard is now evolving into a more structured and insight-driven platform. This article highlights the recent improvements, demonstrating how we are creating a more data-driven, interconnected, ecosystem-level view of the Internet Computer.
What’s New in the Dashboard
Here’s a quick look at the most recent updates, including navigation improvements, an updated subnets page, a new ecosystem tokens page, and a more ecosystem-focused experience!
Informational Architecture and Navigation
We first reorganized the structure of the app to make content easier to find and understand. This helped us show how different types of data connect to each other and made the overall navigation more meaningful.
Once the structure was clear, we redesigned the navigation to focus on what matters most. Now, it’s easier to find key sections, whether you’re exploring subnets in detail or just checking the bigger picture of the ecosystem.
Bringing the Community into Focus
As the dashboard evolves, we’re putting the community at the center. This includes surfacing projects, DAOs, and tokens built by the community. We’re also making it easier to explore who is building what and how everything connects across the ecosystem.
The homepage now acts as an entry point to the dashboard. It not only features technical stats but also highlights the broader ecosystem — including projects, tokens, and events happening across the Internet Computer.
The Network Page
This page does more than just show infrastructure stats, it tells a story — allowing users to navigate through subnets and visually explore where they are located and how they are formed (e.g., number of node machines, node providers, data centers, etc.). Below the hero section, users can find more detailed information about network components, such as subnet details, network performance, carbon footprint, and more.
Subnets now have a new, easier-to-understand view where users can see which countries are part of each subnet and what kinds of apps run on them. Each subnet also shows decentralization scores, which reflect how control is spread across node providers and data centers. This makes it easier to compare subnets and quickly understand how balanced and secure each one is.
Subnets Page
The updated layout on the subnets page gives a clearer view of subnet activity, helping users identify where workloads concentrate and how decentralization varies. Visual indicators for canister count, transaction rates, and subnet load make it easy to compare performance across subnets at a glance.
Laying the Groundwork for Ecosystem Tokens
We’ve started building out the token section. Today, you can explore chain-key (e.g., ckBTC) and SNS tokens. Soon, you’ll also see an extended list of ecosystem tokens, featuring contextual and informational data such as pricing, volume, transactions, and deeper views for each asset.
Why This Update Was Needed
The Internet Computer Dashboard has long provided real-time network insights and historical data across charts, tables, and network activity feeds. Yet despite its depth, key information was often spread across multiple sections. We wanted to make it easier to get a full picture of what is happening on the network.
By addressing this, we aim to make it more straightforward to answer practical questions, including the following:
- What’s happening on the Internet Computer right now?
- Which projects are gaining traction, and how can that be spotted early?
- What assets and relationships are linked to a particular principal? (A principal on ICP can be a “person,” a canister, or a neuron).
- What does a particular canister do, and how can a user explore it further?
- How do new tokens or DAOs fit into the broader ecosystem?
These challenges created a need for a better structure and more connected views, improvements that now form the basis of the dashboard’s ongoing evolution.
What’s Coming Next
These updates are just the beginning. By introducing structural improvements and a clearer information model, the ICP Dashboard is now better positioned to support a wave of upcoming features, including the following.
- Expanded Token Coverage: Support for most ICRC standards and ecosystem tokens, along with token-level insights and activity history.
- Price Data: Aggregated from multiple sources to help you track market movement alongside onchain stats, for informational purposes.
- Smarter Search: Search and discover any token, principal, canister, or SNS more easily.
- Aggregated Views: Explorations are underway to bring all relevant data for a node, project, or principal into a single, contextual view.
Each update will build on this newly established foundation, gradually turning the dashboard into a unified, highly-contextualized data layer for the Internet Computer.
Bringing It All Together
The Internet Computer Dashboard is evolving through thoughtful, iterative improvements grounded in how our community actually uses the data. We’re turning isolated fragments into connected stories that reveal what’s happening in the ecosystem, who’s building, and where the network is going.
As we continue to build, we welcome feedback from all corners of the community. These updates are just the beginning of a more transparent, data-rich future for ICP — and we’re excited to keep shaping it together.
