On November 1–4, DFS Lab organized a third bootcamp with the Stellar Development Foundation to support developers and startups building on Stellar. In conjunction with the Stellar Community Fund (SCF), an open-application grant program for Stellar-based projects based on community input, we were able to accommodate 29 teams across the world in two major time zones. Read more about the teams and their projects here.

Held virtually on the SCF Discord, the bootcamp adopted a self-serve Design Sprint Process designed by DFS Lab where dedicated facilitators and technical mentors supported teams to define a problem, storyboard a solution, and develop a rapid prototype. To gamify the process, progress was tracked on a leaderboard, and anyone from the Stellar community could vote to award prizes for the team’s output of the bootcamp activities (different from the final grants of the SCF itself).

All teams who filled out the survey (22 of 29 teams) found the bootcamp helpful and would recommend the design sprint process to other teams, giving it an average 4.7 out of 5 star rating.

Here’s what some teams had to say about the bootcamp:

“The bootcamp was intense, eye opening and most of all, great fun. I am personally very thankful for this experience. Most entrepreneurs and young companies like us cannot afford such professional and high quality training. It means a lot for us and it demonstrates that the people behind this really care. I am happy to see that Stellar is paving the road for a brighter future.” — Javier from BravePay

“The bootcamp was great, with excellent preparation and impeccable execution. It was super valuable for us to move quickly in specific functionalities.” — Braulio from CashAbroad

After the bootcamp, all teams presented their projects live during the Candidates Pitches on November 8 & 9 on the SCF Discord to get helpful feedback from the community. Now until December 4th, the Stellar community weighs in on which projects deserve grants to influence the distribution of 8M XLM award pool set for SCF#11.

We are excited about the progress teams made and we’re looking to provide continuous support within the Stellar community to help teams improve the lives of people across the globe.
