I Spent $4,567 on a MacBook Pro — Here are 6 Things I Lost

On the one hand, I’m super-excited that I’m getting a new MacBook Pro at all — it’s been so long.
On the other hand, I’m just realizing the things that I will lose in the transition from old to new:
- Full HDMI port (used often, because most projectors have HDMI and VGA)
- DisplayPort (used all the time when presenting at meetings and such)
- My physical “Esc” key (I use this key 100+ times a day, every day)
- My second-favorite keyboard (my favorite being the Thinkpad keyboards). The new MBP keyboard has less travel is going to be more like the “new” MacBook “butterfly” keyboard.
- USB ports which I use all the time for peripherals like external hard drives, memory sticks, device configuration/charging (most third-party devices now use USB->MicroUSB).
- SD Card (used on pretty much every trip I go on to transfer photos from my camera).
I’m really beginning to wonder if I’m going to have withdrawal symptoms and want to go back to my old MacBook for a while.
We’ll see.
What do you think?
