Dialect Launches Grizzlython Side-Prizes for Artists and Developers

We’re doing things a little different this hackathon and offering two side-prizes.
FOR DEVELOPERS: a $5000 prize pool for the best Smart Message & Notifications integrations in Grizzlython-submitted projects.
FOR ARTISTS: a $5000 prize pool for the best NFT Chat Stickers. These stickers will be the contents of the Grizzlython Community NFT Sticker Pack.
You read that right — artists can now join in on the fun too.
How does the artist track work? Submit your best chat stickers to Dialect by the end of the Grizzlython hackathon. If you win, your sticker art will be showcased in this Grizzlython Community NFT sticker pack, which will get dropped to ALL Dialect users at the conclusion of the competition.
Why are we doing two prizes?
Solana’s hackathon culture is one-of-a-kind and pivotal in its success with attracting the best developers and entrepreneurial talent from across web3. Many of these participants, winners or not, go on to raise funds & build incredible companies.
Solana boasts not only top-tier developer talent, but also top artists and creators. We are launching this side-prize as a way to let them join in on the excitement of Solana’s hackathon culture.
While devs are going to be chewing glass building the businesses of tomorrow, our artist track lets artists and other creators use their talents to celebrate Grizzlython and its core theme — building in the bear.
Web3 will require both great tech AND great content if we’re going to reach mass adoption.
Why NFT sticker packs?
At Dialect we’re creating a new NFT category: chat stickers. For artists, they offer a new creative outlet to grow your brand and expand your portfolio. For users, they’re a whole new way to own your voice and express yourself in web3.
They’re also built on top of incredible new tech from Solana Labs and Metaplex: Compressed NFTs.
Compressed NFTs dramatically reduce the infrastructure costs to mint NFTs, allowing for entirely new ways for artists to express themselves, and collectors to own. Today, this is only possible to do on Solana, making it the perfect medium for a Solana hackathon.
In short: blockchain ecosystems are made up of innovative infrastructure, products, AND content.
And we’re here to support all of it.
FOR ARTISTS: NFT Chat Sticker Prize
The prizes
We are awarding 10 winners $500 each for the submission of one chat sticker, to be included in the Dialect Grizzlython Community Pack. This pack will get dropped to all Dialect users at the conclusion of the hackathon.
To say it another way — each artist can submit one chat sticker. Ten winning stickers will be chosen for inclusion in the pack, and the artists will get $500 each.
The criteria
While this pack is being created for the Solana Grizzlython hackathon, we recommend that creators focus on stickers that are timeless rather than highly specific.
We are looking for stickers that celebrate the core themes of the Grizzlython hackathon: defeating the bear market, building through crypto winter, seizing opportunities, optimism, and of course, Solana’s incredible tech and vibrant community.
To put it another way, we’re looking for stickers that could be used in any year or season, NOT for stickers featuring the Grizzlython logo (although, we, too, think the Grizzlython logo is epic).
Artists don’t need to worry about the technical details of minting NFT Chat Stickers using the new compressed NFT standard — we have that part covered! However to make the stickers the best they can be for users, we request you follow our file-type guidelines for your submission.

Each artist will be able to submit up to one sticker, following the file-type guidelines given in the section above, by March 14th at 11:59pm UTC.

FOR DEVELOPERS: Smart Message Integration Prize
The prizes
Top prize is $2500 for the best Smart Message integrations in a Grizzlython-submitted project.
Second place will win $1500.
Third place will win $1000.
The criteria
Projects will be assessed on their utility, novelty, and degree to which they lean in to the unique user experiences possible via the Smart Message spec.

To be considered a project must:
- Utilize the Smart Message spec in a way that is functional inside of the Dialect app or any other inbox running the Dialect protocol (e.g. via peer to peer links, Smart Message notifications from protocols in Dialect, etc).
- Be submitted to the official Solana Grizzlython Hackathon on one of the main tracks (Register at https://solana.com/grizzlython)
- Be submitted to Dialect before March 14th at 11:59pm UTC.
