We pride ourselves in helping our people succeed within Dialectica and beyond to become effective business professionals and future leaders. But how are we doing it exactly? Learn all about the learning and development opportunities and skills you can master by joining Dialectica’s Associate program.

Our Associate program is designed to provide our employees with the necessary training and tools to be successful within Dialectica and throughout their career. A position in our Client Service Team is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to build an accelerated career, unlock competitive performance compensation, live and work in different cities around the world and develop core business and personal skills. In a sentence: by joining Dialectica you are taking your first steps towards future success.

How does Elon Musk manage Tesla and SpaceX at the same time? Or why does everyone praise how Jacinda Ardern leads New Zealand? As an organization, we believe that an entrepreneur or a true leader is made, not born and the learning and development plan of our Associate program is based upon that. Its aim is to help graduates and professionals discover how to unlock their full potential by becoming the leaders of tomorrow. So, which crucial career development skills can one develop in order to thrive within the company and beyond?

1. Research Excellence

Researching, identifying and contacting the right people, at the right time, engaging with them and having the confidence to evaluate their knowledge. By the time you complete your Associate program and most importantly through your day-to-day job, you will have developed strong research and learn to overcome complex and challenging searches, as well as custom recruitment capabilities that will help you get down to business. By becoming an expert in market research, you can also stay up to date with industry trends and market demands — especially in a business like Dialectica, where we work with companies of different sizes, fields, and locations.

2. Sales Essentials

Some skills have to do with sales, but yet again, they are not about ‘selling’ anymore. The secret ingredients are relationships and trust. What you learn during our program is how to recognize and understand the different needs of your clients, adapt and serve complex businesses and some of the most demanding firms of the world. With us, you will learn to evaluate possibilities, identify and deal with the key stakeholders of each project and discover ways to reach agreement. In the early stages of a startup, almost everything involves sales.

3. Business Knowledge

Before serving our client you have to first get to know all about them. Private equity funds. Investment companies. Consultancies. The classics in the business and investment world that you will get to know very well in your future within Dialectica. As part of your training, you will dive deep into what private equities, investment companies and consultancies are, how they think and how they act. We also look into how global organizations, like Dialectica, operate, are structured, what matters most and which are the factors that determine performance.

4. Time Management and Prioritization

Learning how to master these two competencies isn’t just essential at work, it’s life changing as you grow vertically. Becoming a time management guru and assessing each of your responsibilities for priority will allow you to enhance your performance and achieve your desired goals with less effort and more effective strategies in all aspects of your life. In our training, we are looking into how one can manage time by prioritizing daily tasks wisely, a skill that can enable employees to always be on top of their projects by working smarter and also reduce stress levels at work.

5. Project Management

Project management skills are essential to literally every single professional. Still, according to research, only 58% of organizations fully understand the value of project management. Luckily, we do and during our Associate program training we look into the details of what a project manager does and how a project is developed, planned, delivered and evaluated from start to finish. Learning how to plan, organize, manage, execute and evaluate projects efficiently and on time can improve your team’s collaboration, performance, and effectiveness and help you stay aligned at all times.

6. Communication and Interpersonal Relationships

Communication is key, as it helps you drive influence in your career. Even if you are just at the beginning of your professional journey, you must have already heard this phrase or something similar at school, on a podcast or a docuseries on Netflix or at some point in your personal life. It must come as no surprise, then, that communication is important in business, especially when it comes to leadership. But how do we approach communication and interpersonal relationships at Dialectica? We’re introducing you to the best of the best practices of communicating with everyone around you, from your teammates, to coworkers and your project’s stakeholders and the people you interact with on a daily basis.

7. Coaching and Mentoring

For #teamDialectica being a great leader means being an inspiring coach and mentor who understands the importance of building a strong team, someone who is available to support and advise their teammates rather than just a manager or a boss that distributes daily tasks or has innovative ideas. By looking into key mentoring guidelines and going through different coaching scenarios, our Associate program helps future leaders understand how to manage their daily responsibilities and leadership tasks and at the same time be able to onboard and coach new colleagues.

8. International Mindset

This is one of the skills that we won’t “teach” you, as you will experience it yourself on a daily basis and it will help you leverage cross-cultural communication as well as management. We are a diverse, multicultural business operating in four locations in West and Eastern Europe, Canada, the US. At the same time, our business activities are truly global, as we serve world-class private equity firms and top-tier consultancies from all over the world. During your time at Dialectica you will get exposed to so many different projects, cultures and individuals that you will instantly develop a truly open and international mindset and become an expert in interacting with global businesses and investment decision makers.

To wrap up, these are some of the core umbrella themes that cover what you can learn and develop here at Dialectica through our Associate program training and most importantly during your job experience and growth within our company. In any type of job, no matter its location, industry and function, you will need to develop strong soft skills in order to grow and be able to influence and convince your team and stakeholders.
