The President tomorrow is expected to sign the recently-negotiated bipartisan budget compromise, then at around the same time, declare a national emergency to build his wall. (If you’re interested in what’s in the 1,169 page budget agreement, which has now passed the House and Senate, the Washington Post has a good roundup).

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was first to give voice to the President’s intention. Here’s what he had to say from the floor of the Senate (click on the photo to watch):

And we do think it’s significant McConnell chose to unveil the President’s plans in a way that would ensure it would become part of the official, permanent Senate record, rather than in the way he sometimes does this sort of thing: out in the hallway to reporters.
