When emotions are associated with an experience or relationship, a value is added. The brain highlights the experience or relationship, and the memory of it is not only enhanced, but also sustained longer and with more impact. When we practice transformational dialogue and experience positive feelings in that practice, we are drawn into what we might call co-creation. We are creating something together in that shared experience. In addition, we together are creating something new, and we human beings tend to like that. We matter, and we are more likely to stick to the dialogue because it means something special.

How do we optimize co-creation in transformational dialogue?

· Personalize the experience by calling each participant by his/her name.

· Be inclusive by summarizing the thoughts of each participant.

· Indicate positive movement by calling attention to progress that has emerged from the dialogue.

· When appropriate, acknowledge that “we” are involved.

· Find ways to sustain what has been achieved in the experience.
