Day 183 or “The Day Stormy Has A Night Out”

We start the morning as all good Sunday’s should start. Homemade crepes by the pool. Stormy takes the opportunity to go for a swim. I assume the cold water will dissuade her but I do not reckon on her single mindedness when her mind is set. So, I put on some tunes and sit back to watch. We come back upstairs for a shower and to prepare for the day ahead. My suggestion to go down to the Esplanade and see the Merlion and generally investigate what’s on is met with instant approval.

We scoot off around the river. Just past the Asian Civilisations Museum we discover a new children’s playground. The allure of the swings is too great and Stormy asks me to stop. I tap out after the first hour and sit down on the grass to watch her play. Almost immediately she makes friends with a young tourist and co-opts her into building sandcastles. They both seem happy (if somewhat amused) so I sit back and take the opportunity to rest.

We break for ice cream and lunch (which she doesn’t eat) beside the Merlion. Stormy has brought her own camera so she runs around like a tiny photographer finding the right angle and spot to take the shot. It actually turns out pretty well.

We return to the park. She’s fascinated by the merry-go-round and we spend at least half-an-hour on it alone. She plays with everything; swings, slides, even the bells.

I eventually get her to leave and we go to buy a drink to cool down. As we approach the Esplanade we hear some amazing music at the open air theater. We stop to watch a Malay dance and music troupe. I think it’s fantastic, although it’s hard to get Stormy to sit still.

We pick a restaurant nearby to have dinner. It’s dark by the time we emerge but we manage to catch the laser light show off the Marina Bay Sands. It’s the perfect end to a great day (and night) out.
