Day 48

Today is just like any other day. It’s like I never left.

Stormy refuses to get out of bed. Only the threat of a red sticker on her new rules poster convinces her to get moving. And then, only very slowly. As I had, yesterday, promised that I’d take her to school today, I wrestle her into a taxi after a quick breakfast at ToastBox. This leads to an uncomfortable phone call with the bus-Auntie — who I forgot to tell.

Movie night brings yet another repeat of Trolls. I am starting to really hate that movie. Afterwards I bundle her into her bed at least 5 times. And it seems to be a different bed each time. First her bed, then mine and finally settling on sleeping in her old cot (which is usually setup as a fort or teddy bear house). Anything to avoid going to sleep. She seems to be taking the quote “Sleep, those little slices of death — how I loathe them” very seriously.

The rest of the night was spent trying to keep Han and Chewie quiet. I forget sometimes that we’re a family of 4 in Singapore, not just 2. They also miss their “mother”.

* For those who missed the context, I’m not actually single. My wife has started a 5-month contract in Australia (yay). This is a Very Good Thing™. Stormy will be staying with me here in Singapore and I have great help both remotely (from my wife) and locally. I’m writing this purely for fun and to practice writing. :-)
