Don’t say: I want a chatbot, how much?
I need the details before I can get the cost

Hi future clients,
This is a pre-emptive message to talk about how to describe a software project.
Example 1:
I want a chatbot. How much is it?
This is a bad way to describe a project. Why? A chatbot can do a lot of things. Let me describe a recent example which I’ve seen. It’s a simple one. You might have encountered it before as well.
This chatbot just asks a series of 5 questions. Not, it’s not AI-based. It’s just the same set of 5 questions. After you have answered them, it will pass you to a human, typically a sales representative, to do the next human follow-up.
Example 2:
This chatbot is part of the helpdesk section of a company. It’s there to provide support for the customers seeking help. As expected, a customer doesn’t go straight to the human. A chatbot faces him first. It gives a set of prompts or questions to him.
It validates him. And also, at the same time, filters him, so that it knows which human staff to pass him to, so that that staff can take over.
