Final fantasy is a game journey
Speaking as someone who’s played a lot of video games, and at the end of the video game all you have is a memory, after woodworking you get this piece of furniture.- Thomas Middleditch
As I sit here playing Final Fantasy Ten I keep thinking why do I love replaying any game done by this franchise? You can love coffee smelling the aroma in early morning may help you move on with your day. But Final Fantasy a Square Enix franchise can move you through winding stories like a book.
I’m a gamer and I won’t feel ashamed by it
Yes. I read, I write, I watch anime, and I utilize video games as a scape goat from reality. I have an affinity for great story telling and RPG video games are pro at bringing story to the front-line. If you love stories you may not realize video games are crafted by them just the same. I’m not ashamed of saying I put some of my precious time playing good story.
A compelling game can transcend beyond one play through and shape your idea of story telling if done correctly. It is why so many of us Kingdom Hearts fans are dying for the third installment tot he series, or why so many games have been bought world wide. We are the immersed in visual story telling.
I don’t look at it as writing a book in a videogame universe. I look at it as writing for ‘Halo’, which for me, transcends being just a great video game. It’s evolving into a whole new mythology. -Eric Nylund
What effect does this series have?
Final Fantasy is a series where my memory remembers clicking buttons on the play-station system as a kid, sipping on chocolate milk, and being immersed in what was the latest graphics back then. My first game with this system is Final Fantasy Eight. ( Not seven unlike most that are my age.) Thus, my all time favorite game is Eight because the story line is rioting like the story of heroes. You are always a hero in this series.
My first experience with the series might be a little biased because I have never finished or completed a Final Fantasy game because I have a bad habit of giving up. ( A habit I want to change so that I don’t just give up on everything I do.) The story line starts with main character Squall who gets inducted into Seed a mercenaries army in Garden. Squall meets Rinoa the second main character to come along who is the leader of The forest owl rebel faction. ( Obviously, war has broken out.) Their enemy is Seifer a guy who is a complete jerk if you asked me.
Ultimately, the story covers the tale of a time sorceress Ultimata who can mess with time. Everything in the game is ruled by this evil sorceress. What I get by this game is a story telling that trying to mess with the past can and will hurt you but even worse knowing your future is like poison.
Effectively this series has taught me pain, love, aggravation, and loyalty. Yes. You can hate to love a game. I played Final Fantasy Fourteen- I was gifted the newest DLC for it, and I fear going back into my soul sucking absorption of visual story telling. But I love video games, and like a sucker I tend to find myself succumbing to it…Just not Final Fantasy Fourteen. I have decided to hiatus the game because it is too expensive for me.
Continuing from my very first game to my all time favorite you see two very vastly different story telling
Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!’ ~Auron
Final Fantasy Ten is a game I have accidentally put over two hundred dollars into over the past seven years. (Yes. Just like The Lion King.) I’ve replayed through this game a thousand times because the story between Tidus and Yuna as a love story is gravitating. Its like Romeo and Juliet but Juliet lived and has to find out who her old lover is all over again. Its passion in a little packet of story telling that I can’t put down on any platform.
Final Fantasy is not just a franchise but its own genre in the way that it explores visual storytelling beyond what most other games can do.
Final Fantasy makes me feel like I am going through a final journey to save the world, and as a writer I am forever indebted to what this franchise has to offer. But if you are video game lover like me there are a ton of great story telling out there.
