On Writing; Five problems with social media

I am sitting here sipping my cup of coffee like an old person wondering how in the world we got so addicted to social media. I wish my hands could be sifting through a nice piece of newspaper checking out the latest events in my local news but paper anything is becoming hard to find as the internet invades all that was good in our lives. Today I am to cover why our social media sucks, and how it is destroying the writer’s platform in every aspect.

I believe in the good old days when we use to have to divulge our fingers into hard writing on paper, and have to call people on a house phone rather than text. My first problem with social media is the narcissism that it creates in people. A narcissism is defined as being extreme selfishness with a grandiose view of one’s own talent, and a craving for admiration. Another way of explaining it is that people become self-centered and only interested themselves. I know as I continue to sip this coffee someone out there will try to argue that social media does not have a hand in forming narcissism in people but I must mention that it does not affect every person. If you think this is about you than the shoe fits and you’re probably a narcissist. Anyways, what I mean by social media creating a narcissistic person is that we have snapchat which is a video taking app that allows us to take selfies and repeatedly slam your face into other people’s phones figuratively speaking. Or we are constantly updating our Facebook so that people are forced to know exactly how we are feeling for that day. My Facebook is made up of pictures, and random posts that have been sifted through for days but alas we still look at it, and we still try to get the most likes. Did mention how glad I am that I only post a few times a day, and hardly anything is about me? Nor do I own a snapchat. ( A young person who is an individual in the world. Yup. I can be narcissistic without social media’s help, thank you.)

with social media is how fucked up some posts are, and the creation of the get laid generation. When I sift through Facebook I am generally looking for posts about important events or if someone is doing well. However, I mainly see posts like this that pertains to nothing important; How in the world is this post relevent to my daily life? I’m now on my second cup of coffee and my brain is looking at this post with the thought that people would rather like, and share posts than create their own posts. Darn it, where is the originality in their facebook. I honestly do not know how to fix my facebook to make it so that it has only relevant posts, but hey we get what we signed up for right? Our next problem rests in the word Basic. I hate that word in the english language, but with social media I hate it even more so. Everyone considers basic on social media to be apart of the mainstream lingo to describe a person who does what everyone else does. Sadly, everybody does something in life thus the word basic is pretty awful. I mean I drink coffee like a trucker swears about life due to how much I write or play video games. Oh come on, I can’t write all day straight…though I wish I could. Anyways, maybe I am a bit basic in one sense I like coffee, and I love chatting but I hate basic conversations give me a world altering conversation. Anyways, onto my next reason that I hate social media.

A relationship status, and relationships. One of my biggest pet peeves on social media is the amount of attention I get as a female on social media. ( I hear the bias conversation happening in the background as I speak.) Anyways, what I mean is that people are starting to become afraid of each other. What I mean is relationships are not just about one person and the other person anymore. Social media makes their relationship public so every eye, ear, and nose bleeding psycho able to read it. I’ve had my status single for the longest time and so many men have bugged me, pestered me, and bothered me to go on date and be just friends with benefits. Sorry boys that space got filled by someone but I’m not sure what we are anymore. However, regardless, my status changed to in a complicated relationship because I got bored of it saying single and being pestered. Let’s just say I use my cat as the complication here. Let’s be real…our relationships should not be shined in the spotlight because it is between two people not the whole world. But alas all of this is just one part of social media that bothers me as a writer. My final problem with social media is the stupidity of society. We have a problem where people only pay attention to dumb things like the Kardashians, or even Beyonce rather than world problems that may need some fixing up. But alas, I won’t divulge myself into this atrocity anymore.

Let’s improve our writing and try to write paragraphs rather than sentences, and litter our facebook with actual news rather than the bullshit clutter we see now. If you have any comments, concerns, or tips please share. Thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yhuSy7_frw
