One Republic

Let’s have some real talk folks. I am on my way back from Portland-Oregon after watching One Republic perform.
The entire trip is like a dream you don’t want to wake up from. Three nights rolling about the sheets with a man of your dreams. But I’ll save all the love bird crap for later.
One Republic is touring with Fitz and James Arthur. But guess who didn’t show up to the show? Your’s truly -James Arthur. Might be an upset to all of his fans expecting him to be there. But not so much. I respect him. I get it. Sometimes, you just don’t feel like performing. It’s kinda like how writers tend to only write when we want.
Minus that upset for most. There are a few valuable points of traveling this far to see an amazing band. One traveling is rare- going across country for the first time can be scary. Two- you should support artists like these that walk on stage not to set a fashion statement but to be an example for people. Three- as a writer watching a lyrical genius on stage- I cried.
Bringing back Fitz
Artistically we a know Fitz for their I can make your hands clap or the uncensored version is I can make your ass clap. The band has rhythmically addictiveness that is hypnotic in a sense. But if you pay attention the band doesn’t just toss out mush and expect a hit. They won’t write what people want them to as a Jazzy, Blues, Funk band they play by feeling.
I can tell you they slaughtered the stage and brought their A game. I would spoil the set but that’s cruel. Just take note, it was romantic enough to dish out a kiss.
One Republic
You can feel the air since Chester Bennington died and the effect it left on the music industry. You wouldn’t know he was sad about Chester unless you knew he has the same manager and its written all over his face that he’s still quarreling with processing the loss of two influential singers in less than nine months apart.
Profoundly, this must of made starting the U.S tour tragic in a way. But what I love about Ryan is that he’s honest. He didn’t just step on stage with Jeans slit at the knees as a fashion statement. It’s a form of commitment to remind himself of the pain, hurt, and foundation he set for himself as an artist. Unlike, everyone else at the show I was not just enthralled by the jarring music but by the type of guy he is.
There is a magic in being an artist that does what he does because he can’t not do it. This is Ryan in a nutshell. A nutshell that I fit in as well. One that makes me write because I must. It’s gravity on my fingers that when I don’t write I’m cursed to face pain. I think he has that same flare in his music.
P.S I did a similar post on my blog when I saw Coldplay last year with the same amazingly handsome man last year.
The Moment for me
There is always an Aha moment when watching a band that got you through so much as a teenager and adult. My moment wasn’t a song, not a head nod, but a speech. A speech about the reason he writes songs, sings songs, and is on the stage. It’s not about the fame because if it was he wouldn’t be up there. No. It’s about his ideas, his passions, and what he goes through as a person.
Right there I knew he wasn’t fake with his art. He was up there because it’s his passion.
I wore a Coldplay shirt to his concert
If you want to offend a true singer wear a Justin Beiber shirt to a non-Beiber show and watch heads roll. If you want to compliment an artist bring a shirt of a band that inspired that artist. I didn’t do it to offend but to promote what One Republic stands for. True art.
Pretty sure he noticed the shirt cause he mentioned the band during his speech about how he writes for other bands as well. But it could just be coincidence.
Overall, the show was like a beautiful dream just like Coldplay was. You can’t ask for a better or more appealing performance. Added I was with the man of my dreams. You can’t fight that love power. Traveling across the country just to see him.
Anyways- Diary of Fantastic discoveries is out.
