2019: An Office Space Odyssey

We’re expanding. Finally.

When we announced our last office party, we told everyone we’d be moving offices and that this would be the farewell event. At that point in time we actually thought we would need to say good-bye to our beloved space in Kreuzberg and move elsewhere — we had already secured a new office, but then a bunch of shit hit the fan and it ultimately fell through. Long story short: We’re not moving, we’re staying at Oranienstraße 6.

That said, there was of course a reason for our intention to move: Our team has grown quite a lot and we’re approaching a team size of 25 employees now. Our current space is filled to the brim with people, it’s become quite noisy and meeting room time is becoming a scarce resource. So we had to do something. And after what felt like never-ending negotiations we finally secured more space in the same building, upstairs, effectively doubling the size of our office. It’s even the same floor plan, so it feels new, yet familiar. We can stay, yet expand. 🙌

Our current office, getting quite packed.

In the coming days we will assemble furniture, buy plants, put tables in, hang screens and then some people will move upstairs, giving everyone more room to breathe and focus. It will be a challenge to keep the feeling of one team when we’re spread across two floors, but we have some ideas there. Overall, we’ll treat it the same way as building out our current office: Take it one step at a time, see what works, evaluate and then make improvements. #agileoffice

Needless to say, we are very excited and will keep you posted here on Medium, on Twitter and through our Instagram — so follow along if you like! Also a clap for this post wouldn’t hurt anyone — just saying. 😅
