Internships at diesdas.digital

Come join our team of designers, developers and strategists as an intern and work with us on challenging internet stuff. 🎉

Hello there aspiring designer or developer! If you’re on the lookout for an internship in a digital studio with a dedicated, experienced team, where you can learn lots, have fun at work and earn real money, then you’ve come to the right place!

We’re diesdas.digital, a studio for strategy, branding and digital product development located in Berlin Kreuzberg, with a team of roughly 10 people. And since we have a couple of large projects upcoming, we could use some help in the near future. Curious? These are the facts:

Our office in Berlin Kreuzberg (tap/click to enlarge).

You’re not in the office to make coffee!

Stating the obvious first: We value your input and we want you to be a full team member, so if you’ve got a skill or an opinion: don’t hide it, show us! You’re only an intern on paper in your contract, everything else will be an actual job. That’s no reason to get nervous though, we’re pretty chill and it means you can learn a lot.

Projects big and small…

We usually do brand design with a strategic angle and design+develop web products. These can be tiny microsites or larger web applications. So if you’re already building with HTML+CSS+JS or studying communications design, you should be able to put your skills to good use — as long as you’re curious about making digital things.

No all-nighters, promise!

We start work at 9:30am and leave the office between 6pm and 7pm. You’re not required to work longer or on weekends. Quite the opposite actually, as we have a 38h week, usually leaving early on Fridays.

Duration: 3–6 months

Three months would be the minimum for the whole thing to make sense, with a possible extension to six months if it all goes well.

Start at any point in time

We don’t have a specific starting date or timeframe in mind; could be next week, can be in three months. Share your plans with us. 👀

A few words on your salary…

We aren’t set on a specific salary and would rather discuss this together, based on your work experience and skillset. Rest assured though, it’s not gonna be 200€ per month. We’re talking real money, not just a symbolic compensation.

Designers: What you should know.

We tend to work mostly in Sketch, but knowing the usual Creative Cloud suspects won’t hurt. Besides designing stuff and working with our developers on turning your designs into code, you’ll probably take part in workshops with clients, conduct user testing sessions and create presentations. Getting bored is highly unlikely. 🙃

Developers: What you should know.

Most projects we do are based on CraftCMS/Kirby (yes, that means a bit of PHP) or Node+React/Vue. Unsurprisingly stylesheets are in Sass/Scss+BEM and a bit of Tachyons. All code is stored on GitHub. Talking more on a meta level, we care about progressive enhancement, as well as accessibility and we see front-end code as part of the design process — meaning your input on designs is also valued. Oh, and we try to avoid Bootstrap and Wordpress. 💁

Intrigued? The first step is to say hello!

If you want to stalk us before getting in touch, we totally understand: In that case Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook and this very blog would be excellent starting points. Once you’re ready, reach out via mail, tweets (DMs are open) or message us. Snaps work equally well. We’re looking forward to hear from you. 🤗

Frequently Asked Questions

Wanna know more? A few things you might be wondering about:

“Do I need to know how to code?”

As a developer: yes, of course… duh. 🙃 As a designer: nope, you can totally get by without any coding. Being able to create interactive prototypes of your work or at least being curious about a little bit of HTML+CSS would be great though.

“Do I need to speak English?”

Well… not everyone on our team speaks German and so English is often the only common language. That being said, most discussions happen in German, so you’ll be able to get by with a little bit of English. If you’ve read this far, then you should be fine! 👌

“Do you only accept students?”

Not at all… we welcome students for their mandatory internship, but we’re also looking forward to hear from you if you’re easing into your first job. Or if you’re changing disciplines. Or whatever the circumstances may be. Don’t hesitate to get in touch.

“This sounds good, but I’m shy and/or don’t know exactly if this is for me.”

We’ve all been there. Coming into a new work environment is intimidating: Lots of new people, expectations from everyone and that nagging doubt whether you’re good enough. Relax though, you don’t need to be a “ninja” or “guru” or whatever crappy job titles this industry comes up with next. If you’re curious about making digital things, then reach out! We were all beginners at some point and we believe in learning from each other. Nobody is perfect, at least we certainly aren’t.

Alright, you’ve made it all the way to the end! Again, you can get in touch via mail, tweets, snaps or message us. If you’re not applying, but still read all this, we’d be super grateful if you clicked the little heart to spread the word. Thank you! 💞
