Vlogging week on Snapchat, lots of photos, new and current project news and the best briefing in the history of briefings. This is Harry from diesdas.digital and you’re reading our 14th weekly recap! Let’s get this show on the road!

Oh my, that vlogging thing …

Alright, the big one this time is obviously our vlogging adventure. Some time ago we made a company Snapchat account, but I didn’t really know what to do with it, so last week I set myself a goal to capture some moments each day in our Snapchat story. I didn’t know at all how this would go or what I would do — it’s all unscripted and entirely improvised (obviously). The result is almost 10 minutes of video, showing very random moments with a bit of narration across those five work days.

You can find the full, unedited video further down below (I saved the material each day), but let me make a few observations first: First of all I have no idea if this is entertaining or just incredibly dull. You be the judge and if you have any feedback, I’d appreciate it. Personally I find it all pretty cringeworthy … but watching yourself on camera is always painful and it being in English makes it even harder. I had to force myself to actually record these snippets, going out of my comfort zone, but it clearly got easier with the days passing.

I think the last day is when I sort of managed to tell a story and was most relaxed on camera. That might be because by the end of the week I started to enjoy it … I’ll probably continue next week, considering that around 35 people kept watching what I posted. So without further ado, here it comes:

Sorry for the crappy quality, Quicktime Player is to blame.

If for some strange, incomprehensible reason you liked what you saw, you can obviously add us on Snapchat. 👻

Phew, glad this is over. Onto the project news!

Regarding project work we made fantastic progress, had a great vibe and lots of fun. An online shop we’re building is coming together, we officially joined forces with Dropscan and received the most awesome briefing in the history of project briefings. It’s written in German and it’s not really translatable, so I’m just gonna quote a few sentences:

Dazu möchte ich einen interaktiven Charakter, einen Spielcharakter ermöglichen, der den Ausblick auf die immer stärkere Konvergenz von Internet, Computerspiel und Fersehen/Kino antizipiert. […] Gleichzeitig soll der historische Charakter (vintage) und der Avantgarde Charakter eine Spannung ergeben. Ähnlich einem Hightech Oldtimer oder einem Handy mit antikem Klingelton.

If this doesn’t bring tears of joy to your eyes, I don’t know what would. It’s a relatively small website and we’re not sure yet how to schedule it in. But if we actually get the project (there’s competition from two other agencies), we’ll find a way: this is just too good and ever since receiving the briefing we’ve been giddy with excitement.

Photo break!

We took way too many photos this week, so I’m turning this post into a photo essay now. The real writing continues below!

Visitors who bring cake (thanks Erik!) are the best visitors!

The Creative Morning on Friday with the topic “Risk” was excellent: a very touching and personal talk by journalist Susanne Koelbl about her reporting from dangerous parts of the world, such as Afghanistan or Iraq, and how she also found beauty and peace in these countries most people here only see as warzones. Might’ve been the best Creative Morning talk I’ve been to so far. Very impressive, in the literal sense of the word. See more photos by Norman Posselt.
Meetings are fun.
F$%&ing Berlin Mitte hipsters.

Our blog is now a Medium publication!

Medium rolled out new features for publications, with more options for customization and better performance through AMP and Facebook’s Instant Articles. Igor put it best on Twitter:

They are providing an incredible distribution infrastructure for digital writing, also rolling out monetization features. I’m glad we didn’t even attempt to build a blog ourselves, instead pushing everything directly to Medium from the very start. Starting with this post we also created a publication for our blog and we call it diesdas.direct (which is also the domain name). Click here to take a look! 👀

And then there were four …

Since Friday evening Max is officially a full member of this company, with shares and everything. We had to do some paperwork with our notary (his office oozing the usual cigar smell), but it’s all good now. We couldn’t be happier!

And that’s it for today, thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend! If you have any feedback, we appreciate it — otherwise see you next week! 🤖 🙂

Cheers!
