Some Additional Tips related to Vitamin A

  • Vitamin A can also be obtained in the form of supplements.
  • Limit the intake of alcohol, excessive exposure to toxic chemicals, imbalanced intake of Vitamin A and Vitamin D due to high dose supplementation as it inhibits the conversion of carotenoids into retinoids.
  • Vitamin A found in the wide range of food products should be included in the diet as each has some unique health benefit. For example- Carotenoids found in the retina of eye are lutein and zeaxanthin which are found in spinach, kale, swiss chard.
  • Fat helps in the absorption of Vitamin A. Thus include oils like sunflower, soyabean, mustard, rapeseed and olive for cooking.
