Disclaimer: I know Baker Crow personally and have known the Crow family for most of my life. This review is biased by the esteem and regard I have for Baker Crow.

Baker Crow did a wonderful job in his first book titled Estate Secrets. In this thriller I caught myself rooting for Jack and Abby. The book was part expose of southern culture with themes like college football, privilege, faith, attraction, and religion. There is an interwovenness to all of those elements and Baker Crows is an artisan in the way he weaves the story together.

In some ways there is a parallel to the real life story of Alex Murdaugh. If you’re not familiar with this story I highly encourage you to familiarize yourself with the story of the Murdaugh family — part tragedy, greed, hubris, murder, and deception all-in-one. Mandy Matney who is an investigative journalist and the last of a dying breed/profession has done an incredible job with her coverage of the Murdaugh saga in several outlet: FITSNews and her Podcast.

In summation, Baker Crow’s first book is a quick read and wonderful story for entertainment. It takes the reader into a dark work with a ______ ending; well I’ll let you decide for yourself how that blank should be filled in.
