Graham Moore put himself on a high pedestal with his book The Hideout. The book is a great thriller and amongst the same category and echelon as Runaway Jury by John Grisham and any David Baldacci or Lee Child book. I mention runaway Jury because there is a lot of similarity in The Hideout and Runaway Jury.

The Hideout is about a jury that finds itself reliving the verdict they delivered 10 years prior. Moore does a great job of switching back to the past and often alternating past and present every other chapter. This style provides context to the larger situation and story.

This book like many will have you grapple with themes like

  1. Generational sin or wrongs
  2. What is justice?… especially when stuck between a rock and a hard place
  3. The truth does not always set you free

The book was a quick read and page turner; everything you’d expect in a thriller.

Book Rating 7/10
