Diginex, a global blockchain solutions and financial services company, is pleased to welcome Alex Mashinsky, Co-Founder and CEO of Celsius Network, a community-based blockchain protocol allowing members to borrow dollars and earn interest against their digital assets, as an Advisor to the company.

Mr. Mashinsky is one of the inventors of VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) with a foundational patent dating back to 1994 and is now working on MOIP (Money Over Internet Protocol) technology. As a serial entrepreneur and founder of seven New York City-based startups, Alex has raised more than $1billion (bn) and exited over $3bn — including founding Arbinet and Transit Wireless, two of New York City’s top 10 venture-backed exits since 2000.

Over the last six months, Mr. Mashinsky’s latest venture, the Celsius Network has registered more than 16,000 users from over 100 countries, originated over $630 million worth of digital asset loans to non-U.S. citizens and completed over 70,000 transactions with exchanges and hedge funds.

Richard Byworth, CEO of Diginex, said: “We are delighted to welcome Alex as an Advisor to Diginex. His entrepreneurial experience and advice are a powerful addition as we scale our business globally. His vision of a democratised financial future is firmly in line with our own and we look forward to working together to realise this.”

As an Advisor to Diginex, Mr. Mashinsky will be working with senior leaders across the organisation to help scale the digital asset financial services business globally.

Mr. Mashinsky added: “I’ve kept a close eye on the growth of Diginex over the past year. I’ve been impressed at the team’s commitment to facilitating the adoption of digital assets, a viewpoint that is fully aligned to my own. I’m excited about this opportunity to help the team grow and expand.”

Mr. Mashinsky has previously won numerous awards for innovation, including Crain’s 2010 Top Entrepreneur; the prestigious 2000 Albert Einstein Technology medal; and the Technology Foresight Award for Innovation , presented in Geneva at Telecom 99.
