#NATIVODIGITALE by DIG:ITA

Digital people are collaborating across oceans and industries. Digital technology is the glue that holds it all together. Combining the best of Operational Technology and and Information Technology, digital technology is the foundation for any new digital industrial company. This is called #NATIVODIGITALE by DIG:ITA, where people learn future!

As part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing talent and fostering close relationships with academic institutions, DIGITA is proud to celebrate our association with Angela Ghosn, a recent graduate from the University of Bergamo.

Angela Ghosn — a recently master graduate in Economics and Data Analysis at the University of Bergamo — began a training in the company at DIG:ITA, going beyond the pure theory of studies and entering the merits of real practice.

Prediction of industrial alarm occurrence using natural language processing and neural networks.

The internship, considered as a training and work orientation tool, has been highly preparatory to the completion of her cycle of studies and thesis work: Prediction of industrial alarm occurrence using natural language processing and neural networks

This thesis aims to predict future alarms in a system based solely on past alarms. To do this, it was applied an approach called word2vec, which allows us to turn each alarm into a kind of high-dimensional ‘word’, capturing its context and similarities to other alarms.

Then it has been used a type of model called a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model, which can remember patterns over time, and trained it on these ‘words’ to forecast future alarms.

Latest It was tested the technique on real-world alarm data, with good performances, accurately predicting future alarms better than other standard models. This research could potentially help make alarm management systems more reliable and efficient.

During her time at DIGITA, Angela was able to leverage her skills in project management and statistical data analysis, contributing significantly to several key projects. Her work centered around finding innovative solutions for improving workflow efficiency and developing strategies for effective data management.

Angela’s internship experience was not just about putting her academic skills into practice, but also about personal and professional growth. She had the opportunity to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals, honing her communication and teamwork skills while expanding her industry knowledge.

As she steps into the professional world, Angela carries with her the invaluable experience gained at DIGITA. She looks forward to leveraging her skills and expertise to make meaningful contributions to the business and economic landscape.

“I’d like to thank the entire DIG:ITA team, for the great learning experience throughout my internship. Their engagement. feedback and imparted knowledge have all contributed significantly to my career development.” Angela Ghosn

At DIGITA, we are privileged to have had the opportunity to work with Angela and support her in this crucial phase of her career journey. We are confident that Angela will achieve great heights in her career and wish her all the best for her future endeavors.

DIG:ITA for Sustainable Development Global Goals

“Both inside and outside the university, in the short and medium term it is necessary to invest energy and resources in the integration of women in the world of work, ensuring their career progression. This will be a stimulus to increase the number of women even within more technological pathways” — Carlo Cella — DIG:ITA CDO

DIGITA remains committed to providing internships and real-world learning experiences to students like Angela. We believe in the power of nurturing young minds, and look forward to continuing our association with the University of Bergamo and its exceptional students.
