DIGITAL transformation at Eredi Bonacina Site
DIG:ITA met GASER GROUP more than three years ago and since then the benefits of the Digital Transformation are being reaped starting for Gaser β Eredi di Bonacina Mario site.
Gaser - Eredi di Bonacina Mario consists of 4 production lines, dealing with galvanic treatments, and a purification line for a total of 5 lines that are part of Mosaico workspace and therefore affected by Industry 4.0.

In Gaser - Eredi di Bonacina Mario, several steps had to be followed to achieve full awareness of a Digital Transformation.
Letβs start with a Maturity model
To start with, we carried out a requirements analysis of each installation which we called MATURITY MODEL.
The MATURITY MODEL aims at evaluating the current state of any industrial plant and the production process, identifying the potential points of intervention, choosing the right set of operating solutions with particular reference to technical and technological upgrades, safety and Industry 4.0.
In Gaser - Eredi di Bonacina Mario each Maturity Model created, for each of the 5 lines subsequently connected, was made to implement a MOSAICO Workspace around each production line.
Implementing Mosaico Workspace
Mosaico Workspace is a more flexible workplace, where you can take advantage of the people inside and outside your organization, where analytics and modelling have the power to give people more opportunities to experiment and improve their ability to make decisions.
The first step implementing MOSAICO was to connect the information highlighted into the MATURITY MODEL related each production line with the humans workforce and with #iDO digital operator, allowing each one to speak with each others and with the plant & machines itself.
Digital transformation in action
Digital transformation is the transformation of business activities, processes, products, and models to fully leverage the opportunities of digital technologies. The main goal is to improve efficiency, manage risk or discover new monetization opportunities. Digital transformation is doing things in a new (digital) way.
On Gaser plants, the merge between information technology and operational competences turned the power of digital transformation into action resulting a drastic improvement in plant operation, reduction of plant alarms and operational downtime.
The digital transformation also involved a paradigm shift, considering man no longer as the only element necessary for the production of products, but as part of a complex and collaborative system between men and machines.

The pro-active participation of Team Gaser has led to the creation of an accessible and shared knowledge among all those involved, thanks to the collaborative tools available within MOSAICO. This meant that information, documents and activities relating to each machine or each stage of the production process were quickly and easily accessible.

DIG:ITA created a digital workforce equipment with a set of Digital Competences, in the sense of the set of knowledge, skills, attitudes, abilities and strategies, that are required when we are using Information and Communications Technology and digital media
Working within MOSAICO Digital workspace #iDO identify many recurring problems on the plant.
This enable GASER to focus their resources on managing and resolving problem, reducing the impact on production.
Performance and Reliability Services
The Performance & Reliability TEAM helps close the gap between powerful new technology and maintenance engineers on the ground β between great software and people who have to turn a wrench.
Through continuous discussion with the customer we identify new needs that we can satisfy with very specific data analysis, or that can be provided with a notification service, through the use of our algorithms, generating new information that arrives directly to selected users on mobile devices.
Monthly stand-up meeting
With Gaser we meet every month to analyse what has been reported and analyzed within MOSAICO on each line. In this way it is possible to focus attention on the events that have characterized each production line in order to plan a method of evaluating and resolving the various problems that arise.
