The method used by DB in recent years defines a complete view of the modern cycle of Software Engineering for both Design and Build by reflecting techniques to address problems, originated in the Design Thinking method and the principles of Lean Startup, both combined with the concepts of fast delivery of Agile methods and served by the various technologies dominated by DB. This is our DB Agile Design ™.
Through modern Design techniques, the problem or need is fully understood. And with the best practices of Software Engineering (Build), the solution is developed the right way. At DB, teams can be assembled to work on a product idea and develop a PoC followed by an MVP, placing it on the market quickly for validation. For Eduardo Peres, one of DB’s partners, this is the right way to learn and innovate. “Innovation happens the moment it becomes tangible. As soon as value is delivered to the customers, we also learn a lot about the process and can improve the product”, he explains.
One of the crucial success factors is the collective construction with the client, involving people from different areas of knowledge. Multidisciplinarity is the keyword and a hallmark in projects of this type, creating a dynamic and integrating environment, where ideas flow successfully.
For companies that are struggling to innovate internally, DBLab offers the perfect support for experimenting and delivering solutions. Since the introduction of this method by DB in its service portfolio, several projects have been carried out. The first work of Agile Design was done for Sports Club Internacional in 2016, in a partnership with Tecnopuc’s Crialab. This two-month project involved researching, generating ideas and designing an application for fans of one of the biggest soccer teams in Brazil. Several projects were also carried out for a large Fashion Retail Chain, through several Design Thinking workshops to deal with different problems within the organization, not necessarily only related to IT. The list of satisfied customers with DBLab and its Agile Design method also includes clients from Finance, Government and Health.
It is challenging for more traditional businesses to experiment and innovate. What is the CTO of a retail company supposed to do? Hire experts in every emerging technology that could benefit their business? DBLab multidisciplinary teams include people with a variety of skills, like Augmented Reality, IoT, AI, Big Data Analytics, Blockchain and so on.
The technology and innovation that was already carried out within DB started to help our customers even more. “Technology is not only important to the engineering side, it also serves to inspire”, says Peres. For the future, DB aims to create and orchestrate a hub based on the association with other companies and partners that have the same mentality and delivery capacity as DB does. “Innovation is about accelerating. There is no point in trying to be the best at everything, It is important to focus what we want to grow” he adds. For DBLab, the key is to encourage innovation and the exploration of new ideas, from a technological perspective, that can be placed on the market. The innovation offered by our teams is not just thinking outside the box, but sprouting ideas that are applicable, replicable and scalable in the real world.
