Humans move

In the history of humanity, stasis is almost non-existent — a blip on the radar of the civilized world. We are pushed, shoved, encouraged, inspired, manipulated, and incentivized to move. We move physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.

Sometimes, we move because we are forced to. Government promises are broken, the weight of new economic realities sets in, radical militaries take over. We take only the things we can carry, invisible tethers to the home we leave behind as we move outward on an uncertain path. Along the way, we stake our story to new places and share it with those who cross our paths.

But stories themselves are also travelers, the siren call of our past, the social network of our present and the virtual realities of our future. They move through the sand under our feet and the rain on our backs, landing in alleys, town squares, online forums, and front pages.

These stories help us endure hardships and celebrate success. We build common bonds. We are compelled to be better humans.

MOVE showcases these many stories of migration, told by students from around the world. These are our stories.

We made our move. Will you make yours?
