Game title: Breaksout (Ballout) pippinbarr.com/games/breaksout/

Designer: Pippin Barr

Goal of the game: To have the ball break the wall

Game mechanics: You move a paddle so that the ball can bounce on it and break bricks.

Controls: You tap the left and right side of the screen to move the paddle.

Themes of the game: Contemplative

Is this a cyborg game?: Yes because the Ballout version of Breaksout actually plays on its own. At first it makes you believe that you’re playing by giving you directions, but then you come to realize that you have no control at all. This is blasphemous. Then it becomes ironic because you lose in the end even though you didn’t do anything.

Game title: Swan Hill lauramichet.com/swanhill.html

Designer: Laura Michet

Goal of the game: To gain perspective of a story about family and sacrifice.

Game mechanics: You click on words that will guide and change the story and how the narrative is driven.

Controls: You click on bolded words.

Themes of the game: introspective

Is this a cyborg game: Yes because it’s a narrative that seems to go on forever which is blasphemous, but then becomes ironic because just when you think it won’t end it does. The game ends abruptly and you’re left thinking “What just happened?”
