I don’t need a luxury vacation on the other side of the world. I have a lot of fun visiting small pearls scattered all over Poland. This time I spent the weekend in Starogard Gdański, a city full of Kazimierz Deyna and… horses. Enjoy!

Let’s start with a bit of history and some data. Starogard Gdański is a small, however well-known city among Polish people. Its population is circa 47K inhabitants, which places it on the 92nd place on the list of the most populous cities in our country.

It covers an area of 25,28 square kilometers, which means 9,8 square miles. It lies in Pomeranian Voivodeship, 60 kilometers south of the capital city of the voivodeship, which is Gdańsk, of course. (Watch out, we have the Gdańsk biggest fan over here!) It is also the second biggest city of the ethnocultural region called Kociewie.

The first written mention of this city dates back to the year 1198, so this’s definitely an oldie. Its history includes, among others, the Teutonic Knights, but this is not what this article will be about.

I’ll focus on the places I could visit, and I have a lot of photographs to show!
