From My Future Tech Notebook — a collection of ideas that might or might not see the light of day.

I’ve done a lot of traveling. And I’ve taken a lot of photos.

Usually, I end up reviewing the photos later, and I often have regrets about shots not taken — missed opportunities to document a location or activity, leading to:

“Gee, I wish I’d taken a picture of …,” or

“Why didn’t I take a shot of …?”

I’ve been thinking it would be useful to have an assistant to tell me when to take those photos. You know, kind of like your partner tugging on your sleeve and saying,

“Hey, aren’t you going to take a picture of the Eiffel Tower?”

The solution? An app to remind me WHEN it’s time to take a photo and WHAT to take a picture of.

Here’s how a simple version might work:

I have an app on my phone that senses my location and knows about points of interest. It has a simple configuration so I can select the types of things to photograph. I can turn it on or off, and it remembers when I’ve taken a photo or photos of a subject, so it doesn’t remind me…
