I’m always talking about food in Malaysia and how good it is. I’ve also shown you a ton of mouth-watering food pictures. Your next burning question must be — how much does food cost in Malaysia? Or how much food can $5 CDN buy?

In this post, I’m going to tell you exactly how much food costs and I’ll even show you some actual menus!

Before we start, note that the prices I am providing here are what you can expect to see in Ipoh. If you are in Kuala Lumpur, you can assume prices will be a little more!

Let’s go!

How Much Is A Bowl of Wonton Mee?

One of the very first meals you might eat in Malaysia is a bowl of wonton mee. I don’t blame you, that’s a fabulous choice. Here is what you can expect to pay.

Again, you can see these prices in Ipoh. Other areas in Malaysia will have slightly different prices.

Those prices are ridiculous. (photo provided by Linda Ng)

Here is a quick translation of the menu, along with approximate Canadian prices:

  • BBQ pork with shrimp wonton mee RM 5.30 ($1.57 CDN)
