Balchik is the perfect place for a weekend in Bulgaria
First of all, I had been reading about Balchik for a long time and wanted to visit the Castle and the Botanical Garden, but with other options and possibilities, it was always left behind. Now I chose Balcic because the COVID test was no longer necessary and I had a short but very nice vacation.
For the first part of the day, it strictly meant a visit to the castle and botanic garden, but not before taking a walk on the seafront. The seafront is very nicely arranged and renovated, on the opposite side of the castle is the port of Balcic, many new accommodation units, many wonderful terraces, shops, like on the seaside, and what else. The important thing is that it was not very crowded.
I think most tourists go on a day trip because the beach is not very big, just a landscaped strip; the rest are small beaches with sunbeds and umbrellas on the seashore, but they are very clean, tidy, and pleasant.
After the walk on the cliff, I visited the castle and the botanical garden, which is huge. We appreciated the shade and fresh air in the garden and the view because it was really hot that day. There are several little waterfalls, cacti, a beautiful view of the Black Sea, and the routes you enjoy walking the most.
