TRAVEL|NORTH KOREA
Sinuiju — A North Korean Border Town
A very private tour
WARNING: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH!
Rowan and I had a cabin to ourselves all the way to Sinuiju. The remaining ten members of his tour group were on the international part of the train. This was a North Korean train and there’s no doubt it ran rings around the Chinese version. (That wouldn’t be difficult!)
I was hoping to chat to Rowan as I had him all to myself but the poor boy was up until 3 am being interviewed by journalists so he fell asleep very quickly. He definitely works hard in his job and is well-respected by everyone. He kept asking me if he was his favourite and was I proud of him. I kept telling him I was very proud of him but Keeley is still my favourite.
Sinuiju
On arrival in Sinuiju, we were met by our guides Miss Pak and Miss Li and taken to see the Everlasting Life Tower. I was encouraged to take photos on all four sides — I’m not sure why — maybe if I can find the photos, the answer will be there.
