The 10 Most Popular Travel Souvenirs 2024
Do you collect souvenirs from your travels? What are the best kinds to collect?
Everyone loves a holiday and most people love to travel.
I have visited more than 15 countries, some of them several times. I love traveling — it fills me with energy.
Who doesn’t like to buy souvenirs?
They remind you of your travels and can bring back exciting memories of your wanderlust.
If you’re wondering what souvenirs to buy for your next trip, here are five types of souvenirs you should consider:
1️⃣ Fridge magnets
I think the most popular souvenir — fridge magnets. They are great souvenirs because they are cheap, small, and lightweight, so they don’t take up much space in your luggage. If you need to buy a lot of souvenirs for your friends, colleagues or family. I like to buy it as well 😁
I would advise you to buy a magnet with the year you visited this country or city. This will help you to remember when you traveled to Greece, England, or Hungary…
It’s a good gift, but if you travel a lot, you’ll run out of space in the fridge over time.
2️⃣ Postcards
Many people like to collect postcards and stamps. it’s a great idea to send a postcard to friends back home or in other countries or even to yourself (by the time you return, you will have a postcard waiting for you). I have never done that before.
Postcards often have images of local landmarks, and stamps can have designs specific to the country or region you are visiting.
Whether you’re traveling for business or vacation, take a postcard or stamp to add to your collection!
3️⃣ Wearable souvenirs
What does it mean?
If you can afford it, buy traditional clothes and accessories made by locals. For instance, T-shirts, scarves, and hats with the inscription “I love NYC” or with the national flag. It will serve as a long-lasting reminder of your trip.
Comfortable and versatile, these shirts become wearable souvenirs, proudly displaying the places you’ve explored. Just make sure that if you pick one in a foreign language that it doesn’t say anything untoward.
4️⃣ Edible souvenirs
One of the best ways to get to know a new culture is through its food.
In this guide, I’m not going to cover all the delicious food and drink opportunities that can act as souvenirs, but here are examples of some Chocolate, Сoffee, Oil, Cheese, Wine, something special and national …
I like to bring something traditional or something that we don’t have.
5️⃣ Keychain
A keychain is a simple souvenir that doesn’t cost too much and that you can use every day. Keyсhains are found everywhere. If you can find a keychain made by local artisans, you can also support the community you are visiting while you are there.
6️⃣ Local Currency
If you may not spend every penny in the country you are visiting, it is a great idea to keep some local currency and coins.
I started collecting coins from different countries even before I began traveling. I currently have coins from more than 50 countries. Of course, I haven’t visited so many countries yet…
I am a kind of numismatist😊 That’s why it is a pleasure to add to my collection while traveling.
7️⃣ Cups for tea or coffee
I will start the list of travel souvenir collection ideas with my cups collection. I have quite a large collection of cups from different countries and cities.
At the start, I used to have friends or family bring me cups as gifts, but now I make it a point to buy them myself, only in places I’ve been on my own.
Now I try to buy such small cups because I don’t have enough space for everyone. However, it’s still my habit to drink coffee from these cups and reflect on my vacation and the beautiful places I’ve visited.
8️⃣ A Yellow Rubber Ducks
The most fanny souvenir for me is a Duck. To tell the truth, I have never bought it. But who knows 😃 Maybe I’ll do it on my next trip.
Yellow rubber ducks have become popular souvenirs and toys primarily because they are associated with childhood and swimming.
I know tourists who collect Duck from different countries and it looks so cute.
🔟 Thumb Pins / Pins Souvenirs
The easiest things to collect when traveling are pins and thumb pins. They’re small, lightweight, and can be easily stored in a suitcase or backpack. You can purchase pins at local tourist destinations.
Travel, collect, and enjoy!
