The Beauty of The Fall Leaves in Western New York
The campground has plenty of examples of the gorgeous changing landscape
I would have to say that fall is hands down my favorite season of the year. It used to be summer growing up and my birthday was in the summer but as I’ve gotten older, the hot weather has caught up to me. I love the feeling of the air cooling down and the natural beauty this season brings to everyone.
I enjoy seeing most of the leaves changing from green to the many beautiful hues of red, yellow, and orange before they fall entirely away for the winter. I decided that since today was a gorgeous fall Western New York day I would go around and get some pictures of leaves close up and also of the sky and the beautiful landscape around us at the campground.
The temperature today was in the lower 60s with plenty of sun in the perfect conditions to provide the natural lighting to highlight this beautiful autumnal phenomenon that many of us experience every year.
In Northern California, I sort of got proper autumn there but it happened much later than it would in the Northeast. Then in the winter if it was cold enough, the leaves on the tree might fall off. This area I’m in right now is the best place to experience fall at its finest.
Sure, maybe I should be in New England proper to get more of the experience I imagine the most when thinking about fall but this is definitely also a grand experience. The only thing that would’ve made today’s short expedition even better would’ve been a hot pumpkin spice latte from any of the major coffee chains not named Starbucks.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I detest the taste of that place. I would much rather have a Tim Horton’s or a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee over Starbucks.
I was almost tempted when I was outside today to gather a couple of those leaves for my own to keep and share but I decided not to as not to mess with nature. These leaves will be falling onto the green earth any time now and I didn’t want to disturb the delicate and beautiful balance of nature.
I’m just excited that I’m getting to experience year after year the wonderful benefits of a proper fall anywhere other than California. I know Californians used to hear people say that living in other places of the country, we get to experience the four seasons properly so each one feels distinct and special.
I remember that as a kid I would snicker at that since I hadn’t been anywhere else and thought that people were stupid for living in the cold. Now that I’ve lived away from California for six-plus years, I totally get it.
It really is special to live in places that don’t experience hundreds of days of sunshine every year and where the temperature I experienced today would be a winter day in Los Angeles or San Diego.
Anyway, I hope that if you’ve never experienced fall and the leaves, you get a chance to before it’s too late in your life or even just in the current year. You’ll understand that special feeling once you do. And then at that point, maybe you’ll have earned that hot pumpkin spice latte.
Until next time, Digital Global Travelers.
