The Louvre Was On My Bucket List, But Paris Was Not

Obviously, we couldn't do one without the other

Since learning that the Louvre is undoubtedly the biggest art museum in the world, I have always been keen to visit this famous sight. My partner and I are both artists, and he wanted to see the Louvre, too. The only problem was that neither of us had any desire to visit Paris, and in fact, we were both a bit intimidated by it.

I can’t say exactly why this was. Maybe it was purely the fact that Paris is the most visited city in the world, and we tend to try to stay away from tourist traps as much as possible. Maybe it was because we heard that Parisians hate foreigners who don’t speak French.

It also might be because we heard that Paris is one of the pickpocket capitals of the world. And, oh yeah, we had heard that people were rude and unwelcoming.

Whatever the reasons were, they are long lost in my memory now because I can firmly say that Paris was not one of the stereotypes we had heard, and both of us were pleasantly surprised by the city and its residents.
