Rockport Massachusetts is a small town on the Northeast coast, known for its beaches and charming town center.

For the past 3 years, I have worked as a server at a family-owned restaurant in Rockport. It is the ideal job during the summer due to the high influx of tourists.

My favorite fact to tell people who are not from Rockport while I am serving them is that up until 2018 Rockport was a dry town.

Yes, you read that right Rockport, MA was a dry town only 5 years ago. Sounds crazy, but it’s true. All of my customers didn’t believe me at first either. However, once I point out that there are no alcohol stores in Rockport, and that the closest one is a town over it starts to be more believable.

Rockport was a dry town for 162 years. This happened in 1856 when a group of women went through town destroying any alcohol they could find. This was because the women had had enough of their husband’s excessive drinking.

Yes, Rockport is a small, quiet town. However, it has a very interesting history. There is more to this quaint town than just being a great place to spend summer vacation.
