The Untouched Islands of Comoros
Perfumed with a hint of ylang-ylang flower, and clove
If asked to pinpoint Comoros islands on a map, could you do it? Don’t be surprised if you fail; many don’t even know they exist! En route to this hidden paradise in the middle of nowhere, we discover that it is formed by a cluster of four tiny isles.
The Comoros are squeezed just in between Madagascar and the mainland of Africa itself. Comoros was named by Arab traders; it was and is still known to them as the islands of “Qamar” (meaning the Moon islands) the explanations as to why are countless.
One reason proposed is due to the shape of one of the isles as it is shaped like a crescent and it sometimes casts a shadow on the sea in a crescent moon shape.
Another theory is that the archipelago is home to a very special bird called moon bird in Arabic, or commonly known as the European turtle dove and that it is this little winged creature that gave the islands their name, but the theories are endless.
