These Kinds of Travelers Make Us All Look Bad
We can all do better when we are guests in other countries
Sadly, some people seem to forget that travel is a privilege. They forget, or maybe they don’t realize, that the people in the places they visit may never have the luxury to leave their country's borders, never mind fly across the world to see some foreign land. I think they also forget that they are guests in these countries, and they should be on their best behavior.
It’s always disheartening to see travelers who don’t behave themselves. Unfortunately, we have experienced more than our fair share of unruly travelers as we have moved around the planet, and I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight a few examples.
Why am I doing this? Well, I think it might help people to understand how their behaviors affect others. At least, that is my hope.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think that I am the perfect traveler. I have had my share of bad experiences where I realize that I haven’t acted as nice or patient as I could have. But there are lessons in all of it, and I constantly try to do better, especially when I witness the bad behaviors of others.
