A small town with unparalleled access to National Parks
Southern Utah is famous for its red rock cliffs and scenic National Parks. If you’re planning a trip to the area, don’t discount this small town in the heart of Iron County.
Driving into Cedar City, particularly coming up I-15 from the south, you’ll be awed by the gorgeous mountains through the Black Ridge point and the Cedar Breaks area. If you’re not in a hurry, you may want to stop and take in the landscape along your way.
Throughout your stay in the Cedar City area, you’ll have plenty of hiking, cultural events, local attractions, and even star-gazing to keep you entertained!
Snowfield Monument “Franciscan Fathers”
Take a quick break at milepost 33 / Exit 33 on I15. It will give you a chance to stretch your legs and take a look at the small plaque. Note that this is not the most beautiful outlook along the drive, but you can take a look at a piece of history!
The specific location is: 37° 21.63′ N, 113° 15.708′ W. You’ll get off the freeway at exit 33, and find the historical marker 300 feet south. The plaque reads in part:
